Coolant leaking for bleeding screw

Hi All,

I have a 1996 525, if you follow the top hose from the radiator to the engine block, when the rubber hose meets the plastic where the Thermostat is housed there is a little plastic screw for bleeding out the air mine has a hair line crack that is leaking coolant.(there is also one by the cap where you fill the coolant).

My question, does this crack show the sings on a bigger problem ie the thermostat sticking, or is there to much presure? or is it simply a cracked plastic screw?

the o-ring seal on the screw may be defective, these screws can break off ,also, if overtightened.
the bleed screw is servicable seperately and the best solution, i think, would be to replace the entire plastic t-stat housing & t-stat with a metal unit available now since the plastic ones were so problematic.
