Owner and Pink slip, needs quick replies!! Thanks yall!!
Hi, I live in California. I'm thinking to buy this car. I asked the seller about it. And he said he just bought the car from the first owner a month ago, and he never registered. But he has the whole pink slip, signed by the first owner, even the top part (The Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability). So if I do buy the car, I will be the second owner of the car. This is my first time seeing something like that, and I really like the car and I want to buy it. So what do you think? And on the release of liability form, we have to put the selling price. But I'm actually not really buying the car from that person, so what do I put there? And is it safe to do so? Since the guy who is selling this car is not really an owner of that car, he just have the whole pink slip. Thanks for reading.

and yes I'm thinking to buy a 1993 3000gt base, with 100k, he's trying to sell it for 5500.

That sounds kinda suspicious....could you maybe try and contact the original owner or something? Where in Cali are you from?

I`m really not sure what you should do, but you could go to the dmv and ask them? They should know, shouldnt they?

I think you should try and contact the original owner. Ask the person selling it for the number or contact info. He should still have it since it's only been about a month since he supposedly bought the car. Also, call DMV and ask to make sure everything's still good with the car. Because you're supposed to report the purchase of the car within 5 days of purchase so if the seller already sent in his part, then there may be something wrong with the buyers side. I don't really know the details...but I'd definitely say be careful. After all, it's gonna be money you're dropping on the table so if he's a genuine seller, he'll help you out.
