Lowering springs, WTF???
Hey,
I'm tiring to install a set of H&R Race Springs on my car and when I got to the back I noticed that there was a whole lotta play between the springs and the top of the retaining plate.... I mean there was a gap of a few inches, am I doing something wrong? The instructions said nothing about the gap... Is there a "How to" out there that I did not find? Oh yea the shocks are GR2's.. Thankx MAX |

this is while your car is still jacked up, correct?
If so, it's all good. The new springs are shorter and stiffer. |

Re: Lowering springs, WTF???
Yea its when its jacked up...
But won't the gap cause the car to "bounce" when it pass's over something that will cause the rear to be extended to its full length? I had this problem with a Nissan before and the rear was very bouncy, I fixed it by stretching the strut and placing washers in between the top and the nut that holds the strut. But there is a taper in the strut of the Honda that prevents the strut from extending..... Hrmmm.. So are your rides bouncy? I mean with lowering springs you should have a little bounce but not much... Thanks, MAX |

Re: Lowering springs, WTF???
O.K.,
I'll give it shot. Also, has anyone with lowering springs ever had there rear springs move out of position after hitting a big pot hole or something that caused the rear to extend to its full amount? Thanks, MAX |

![]() Well, the ride is fine.. ![]() Only thing is when I pass over something deep that causes both my rear tires to extend at once I notice a slamming sound... But I guess thats how its has to be.. Thanks again, MAX |

Re: Lowering springs, WTF???
you could install limiting straps, they limit the downward travel of the suspension and might help.

Re: Lowering springs, WTF???
there is no brand, you have to make them. Just find some nylon strap (1" width should be good) and hook it up. Loop it around a moving piece of the suspension (like the upper control arm) and something not moving (like the top of the strut tower, drill a couple holes and reinforce it).

Re: Lowering springs, WTF???
use a nylon towing strap, cut it to fit and do like said above. Will run you about 10 bucks at autozone.

Re: Lowering springs, WTF???
bumpstops cushion bottom-out - upward travel.
