Greetings from DrNature! Found this forum looking for 4Runner information. Looks like a terrific source of commaraderie and information!

I just purchased a 1998 Toyota 4Runner SR5 (black). It is really an impressive vehicle, replacing a 98 Dodge Dakota that mysteriously caught fire in my driveway. Needless to say, it was toast. Never did find out what caused it!

We have put well over half a million miles (literally) on a Toyota Corolla and Camry; don't know what I was thinking going to another make.

I miss the truck, but the 4Runner is orders of magnitude better (unless I want to haul an old lawnmower or something). We actually took it off road a couple of weeks ago; had not really intended to go down what in whitewater terms would be Class 3 rapids, but the 4Runner handled it superbly (probably better than I did, as this was the first time I have ever driven in 4-wheel drive, but it was exhilarating and my lovely wife thought it was a thrill). Still trying to get all the mud out of it!

We are heavily into Scouting, camping, hiking, geocaching, wildflowers, and digital photography. I am a professor of Biology and Environmental Science at Chattanooga State Technical Community College.
