which do you guys think is better (i.e. more power efficient): a the stock, steel two-piece driveshaft off a 3.4 or a custom one piece aluminum shaft?

Re: driveshaft quest

From another post I just made:
An aluminum 1LE driveshaft will hold any power your car is going to throw at it until you make some real power. Mine held up to my car With the 383, nitrous, and on Drag Radials for over a year before I replaced it with a Denny's Nitrous Ready (www.DennysDriveshaft.com). I would still be running it if it had 1350 series yokes on both ends like the N2O ready. The 1LE was designed for the 3rd gen 1LE cars, but was a GM replacement under a TSB on 4th Gens as well. It is smaller Diameter than an Aluminum LS1 shaft, but thicker tubing.
1LE driveshaft, GM part number 10085375, around $280 shipped from GMPartsDirect.com

Re: driveshaft quest

this question is based purely on intrigue. ive got a 3.4 that obviously does not make a lot of power (yet) and im not worried about the thing breaking or failing in any way. i was just wondering which would allow for a more efficient drivetrain, to allow for more effective power transfer.

also, no v8 driveshaft will fit on a v-6 car, for future reference. the two-piece shafts off of the sixer cars are shorter than the v-8 shafts...

Re: driveshaft quest

not true ChevyRacinCamaro, Lots of V6 guys upgrade to the V8 1 piece driveshaft. I am not saying that the shafts could not be a different size, just saying there are a lot of V6 guys that swap to the V8 ones.
