Need Advice
Ok well I had a 97gst until it was involved in a car accident 4 days ago when a lady ran a stop sign. Anyways my front end is totalled and the car is no longer in commission. So here's my question, with the money i get from insurance I was going to buy another car and i just found a 97 Talon Tsi with 55k miles on it, but the only problem is that its auto and I wanted a stick and i wanted to know what the difference between a stick and auto turbo cars are?

Re: Need Advice
The only dif is tranny, an auto tranny is not made for race car, but is pretty confortable to drive it when you are stocked in the traffic. the engine is the same everithing is the same, but is very difficult to swap for a manual tranny, if i were you i will wait more and keep looking for a manual one. just my

Re: Need Advice
you can still race with A/T. in fact there're many 10s A/T's out there. it prob just won't be as much fun as a M/T. the way of driving it is also somewhat very different. there're many things things you can do to a A/T also. TC, tranny ... etc. i have a A/T gst that i bought off a friend year ago. if you can find a decent M/T it'll be more fun to drive with. but if A/T is all it's available, it'll serve you well too. you'll just be looking into different drivetran modifications later on.

Re: Need Advice
A/T DSM's are still very capable. If you can stand not having a manual (personal choice), just know that you'll be spending a few hundred in tranny stuff, like an oil cooler and shift kit.. etc.

how much is the INS company going to give you? then go find yourself a GSX online for that amount cause a 97 gst should get you good money back from the ins... nada avg retail is $8,100 for a 97 gst with 75k miles (i guessed) thats usually what the insurance companies give for totaled cars.
take 8k and look on cars.com and autotrader.com and im sure you can find a decent gsx for under 8k.. thats manual |

Re: Need Advice
Buy a manual! I had this same dilemma...wasn't turning up any good M/T cars because they were so much more expensive and desirable. I had the option to buy an AT, but I held out and found my Talon 5 days later
![]() I love driving manual...you should definitely wait!
