Fuel Pump going bad????

How can you tell if your fuel pump is going bad? I have a 96 Escort 1.9 with 90,000 miles. When I do one of those California(rolling) stops and then hit the gas it hesitates alittle then I can go. Also when I'm at a complete stop the car shakes and feels like its going to die, but it doesn't...Any suggestions...Thanks

locate the fuel pump and then have someone start the car. if the pump is okay you'll hear it kick in.

Re: Fuel Pump going bad????

plug in a fuel pressure guage. On the 2.0 I know its on the fuel rail. I think the 1.9 was similar (haven't read in a while). Haynes manual will tell you where and what the psi should be pre-starting and while running.
