305 upgrades

does anyone know any cheap upgrades for a 305? I heard that turning the air filter housing upside down added 5 hp. something about air compression. dont know if that guy was pulling my leg though.

i've heard it works, and i've also heard it doesn't. i actually did a flow test when i was in high school shop, and it actually restricted air. but either way, 5hp wont be noticable

what's your definition of cheap? K&N is around $50, you could eliminate the A/C setup to free some HP up, see if you can find a dual snorkel air cleaner setup from one of the older H.O. camaros or vettes at a junkyard or ebay. computer chip also.

Re: 305 upgrades

well, cheap is pretty hard to find. if youre lookin fr top end power, a sheet metal crank scraper will add 10-15hp at the top end. after that, your gonna have to spend money, just the way it is with performance. heads, cam, intake, exhaust, all places to spend money. but sadley not all of it is free. but i have seen some good deals on parts on ebay. hell, thats where i got my flowmaster system and i have no complaints.
