A Few Questions

hey i'm trying to gather up some information because i have some ideas. i'm holding the ideas til i get some more info.

1. What causes turbo lag? is it inconsistency of the airflow?
2. I have read through some previous threads saying something about using gas to spool up the turbo. Can you use a compressed air tank to spool up the turbo before launch?

well me coming from the paintball world i came up with a few ideas. i don't think my first idea would work cuz it doesn't seem to be an inconsistency problem. i was thinking of using a "regulator" that would somehow hook up to the turbo, so it will give it better consistency.

second idea, i was thinking about hooking up a compressed air tank from a paintball gun to the turbo which will make it spool. you can buy adjustable tanks.

No offense, but I don't think you're going to revolutionize 15 years of R&D. There are methods to spool already.

i agree, i think that you would need a whole lot more air than what you think to spool and keep the turbo spooled up.

well, i don't know if you guys know, but these tanks hold up to 4500psi. there's a bunch of various sizes and filling up these tanks are dirt cheap and even free in some cases. i was jus thinking maybe enough air to just get off a few launches.

just using my creativity and knowledge to get something going.

4500psi is good but you need to look at how many cfm you are going to need. you need more flow than psi. for example take the bore of one cylinder squared and mutiply it my .7854 x your stroke x rpm / 1728 equals the amout air needed for one min. for one cylindar. now x that by 4 = how much you need. thats a start.
