down under the Yzf600 was a 'thundercat' and was replaced by the R6. I test rode a YZF600 and prefered the power of my 250 at the time. As usual I wouldn't have a F'n clue if its the same bike as the one you are talking about so i'll go sit in the corner and shut up

The yzf600r has the R6 engine with more modest timings and cam settings. It still puts out a great deal of power, although not on que with the 600 supersports. The bike is much more comfortable, the seat is decently padded comparatively, and has a much better riding posture.

Great second bike if you don't want to get hit with the insurance from a 600cc supersport.
