AWD cav conversion

Hey all, im wondering about interest in a conversion for a 2002 and up cavaliers with ecotec engines, to all wheel drive. i think ive figured out a pretty easy way to do it, that isnt heavy as hell, and should manage decent power, say a small turbo kit or something along those lines. so far ive only figured out how to do it with an automatic, but if i can get it to work, and have enough demand, i might be persuaded to look into working ona way to get the manual to work as well. Havent started yet, everything is still on the drawing board, but i was curious as to weather or not there would be a valid interest in this if i could pull it off.

background, im a GM tech, a die hard car guy, with years of wrench time, and an aeronautical engineering major. im actually looking at this to be a school project for an engineering class. and perhaps patenting the idea and selling it to someone like RK sport. drop me your thoughts on this, just curious.

Re: AWD cav conversion

What kind of AWD platform are you planning on using? Something along the lines of an Eclipse/Talon? If you did it along those lines you could use a manual trans.

Re: AWD cav conversion

naw, im using a GM platform, very simple really, naturally if i get it to work i want to be able to take credit for it, and not have someone take my idea, but the problem comes from the platform is designd to use an automatic, so swapping that over is relatively easy, but ill have to desgn some sort of coupler to combine the manual to the transfer case as they are different designs.

Re: AWD cav conversion

can do, but wont be for a while, have to wait till im back at a technical college with an SAE chapter, and a shop to work in. that wont be for at least a year now. im just doin the research and some 3D renderings and design work to see if its really doable.
