Re: Recalls?

Alldata.com tells you the recalls, but they don't tell you anything about it specifically. I saw one that might pertain to me but I wasn't sure what exactly it was about.

your best bet is to find a lead on recall then call a local dealership, they could tell you more

Re: Recalls?

You can go to MyGMlink.com, register your VIN and then you have access to the recalls. Takes a bit of time though.

Re: Recalls?

I had the body mounts replaced, if that's what they are called, I'm not sure now. They are located in four places under the engine. The rubber can get all hard and sometimes as was my case, they pulled through the frame letting the engine partially fall out. I had it fixed at a local garage but continued to hear knocking coming from the front end. I finally took it to a chev dealer. That's when I found out they were recalled for that problem.

That's always fun.

The first gen Ford Tarus and Sable had a lotta problems with that, the two rear engine cradle (subframe) mounts would break, and the cradle would drop, leaving the driveline almost dragging the ground and very little steering control. Instead of steering the wheels, the rack was just shoving the whole cradle side to side. This started happening when these cars were just 6-8 years old.

But I guess given enough years and corrosion, it could happen to any FWD car. They all have the same arrangement, with the whole driveline sitting on a cradle mounted to the unibody with four large bolts and bushings.
