98 Z71 warm AC and bad fuel milage
I have a 98 Z71 extended cab with a 350 in it. It has 234K miles on it. It has not given me many problems for the milage. The other day while sitting at a red light I notice that my AC started blowing warm air. That afternoon at home I looked under the hood to see if the compressor was cycling at it is. If you drive down the road the air cools down but if you sit at idle it blows hot. Any one had this problem before? Also the fuel milage has dropped off lately. I have changed the fuel filter and plugs but that did not help much.

Re: 98 Z71 warm AC and bad fuel milage
Well there was a campaign for newer tahoes and yukons where gm added an electric condensor fan. GM claimed at a stop there was not enough airflow coming through the condensor. Based on this you might want to check and see if the fins on the condensor are pluged with dirt and debris, as well as in betweent he condensor and radiator. Other than that have a shop check the ac system pressure to make sure thats in check, if you're compressor is cycling to often or to much it may be low on 134.

Oxygen sensors should be changed every 100,000 you will and can loose MPG drastically when not replaced.
