Neons going to another power source

I know there's a million threads about neons, but I couldn't found any that really answered this question...

right now I have four neon's - 2 under my dash and 2 under my front seats. All the wires are hidden. I have a 1-4 cigarette lighter adapter that is in my glovebox...all the wires run to the glovebox. I also have a switch installed that cuts the cigarette adapter on and off (turning neons on and off). But i dont like having that cord coming out of my cigarette lighter...how can i run it into another power source (battery or fusebox)...how would i do that, and if i did go to the battery, where would i run the wires to get them to get from the dash (where my switch is) to the battery?

Hey dude, I am in no way a leading expert in wiring neons, I have a thread on here with a similar question myself, however, I can start you off with what I have learned thus far.

1) You will run a line directly to the battery from the switch, and a line to the lights from the switch. If it is a 3-prong switch, you will also have a ground.

2) The line that runs to the battery should have in in-line fuse to act as a surge protector for the neons.

3) Depending on the car, you should have a plug in your fire wall which you can run the cord through. If you don't you have 2 options.

a) Drill a whole in the firewall.
b) Run the wires through the fender. I have never done this b/c I have a plug in my firewall, so I cannot help on that one.

K - that leads me to my next question...does anybody know where the plug is in a Gen 3 Camry? How would I find it...i'd have to remove my whole dash wouldn't i?

not necessarily. mine (95 eclipse) is on my passenger side behind the carpet so you could check there.

Mine on my Neon is in the space where my feet are in the drivers area...but up a little, so its up there but you cant see it or touch it with your feet or anything. Kinda hard to explain, but its there!

found the plug - but here's one more question. how do i connect the wire to the battery? and do i hook it onto the positive or the negative?

With an O ring terminal...it slips over the wire and will crimp down when you squeeze the end or whatever, that should be obvious. But it depends on the type of battery terminal you have, cause mine goes on the tightening bolt, then a nut tightens it down...the wire for my amp that is. Im sure you can figure out a way somehow.
