Question Help with Painting!!!

Some of you might have seen my R33 progress and if you have you know that I am a beginer so please help me! I painted my R33 light blue and it has alot of sparkles in it, and they are really bumpy so I was wonderin if I clear coat it will it still be bumpy? Or will the clear fill in the bumps? If not should I wet sand the last wet coat I did so the clear goes on smooth? Please help me out!
Heres a pic of the paint..

Re: Help with Painting!!!

Lightly wet sand it with 2000grit. I say screw the clear coat, it doesnt need it.

Your picture makes it look fairly smooth already. A light texture is fine for a basecoat of metallic, unless the bumps you mention are more like pieces of dirt in the paint.

Modern pearls/metallics are meant to be clearcoated and do not do well when wetsanded and polished w/o being clearcoated (sorry GTMike).

If the surface is relatively uniform w/a light texture, you can either lightly sand it and then apply another coat of blue, or simply clearcoat over the blue, and polish that to a smooth shine. The clear will smooth the surface somewhat, but for best results you always need to wetsand/polish the clear.

I say clear it. The finish will still be bumpy, or orange peely, but give it a good color sand ,and polish. Then the finish should be smooth.
