Stupid question but have you got gas lately? You might wanna try retightening your gas cap. Mines come on before because of that.

It won't go off right away if it's anything and you fix it but it should after you start and drive for a while a couple times.

Also mines come on because the wires to the Evap can where too short and they finally snapped. Had to take that to the dealer to find out.

Mines a 2.0 4cyl if you got a V6 it might be differant(wiring wise)

Hi,
Thanks for the info. By the way there are no such stupid questions in the world. Did your mom taught you how to write email to other people?...

Hey there, My service engine soon light has come on twice in the last 6 weeks or so. I did noticed the first time it did shut itself off after I switched to premium gas & we also had snow, so I threw it in to 4WD & played in the snow for a bit. The service engine soon light came on again.. naturally we got more snow.. so I threw it in 4WD drove around and it switched itself off again. I brought my little truck to the mechanic & he could not find anything wrong with it... My solution, just play around with it & hope for the best & try the better grade gas... I find it's a lot better.. takes about 4 fills before you notice the difference.

Re: Engine Service Soon Light Come On

Hi all! Our Vitara 2.0 (2000) showed that light shortly after bought from auction. Dealer found faulty O2 sensor read out - got it fixed for 1/4 of the dealer price but now have the light still on. Anybody know how to cancel / reset that??? Thanks!

Re: Re: Engine Service Soon Light Come On

Just found out that if problem is fixed you just pull the main fuses and leave for ten seconds - reinstall and start: light ist there at start but comes off after it's done the check! Great and much cheaper than the dealer 60 miles away! (-;}
