85 LeSabre coolant, smoke
My car this morning, started smoking while I was driving. Opened the hood to see the engine coolant tank leaking out in a crack in the very top, and the coolant BOILING. Very hot to touch...couldnt even get cap off. It doesnt leak normally...it was the raging boiling water that pushed some coolant up to crack at top..but what is making the coolant get so hot...and start smoking? All in the same time frame the car became very dificult to steer. it took every ounce of my strength to turn it even a half a turn..I know its probably the power steering fluid...but why all this at thesame time? coincidence..I dont know the first thing about cars so any help is appreciated.
Thanks |

Re: 85 LeSabre coolant, smoke
I would maybe say bad heads cause the car to over heat and the water boils back out instead of circulating through the car. As for hard to steer if the belts got wet due to the leak they will be hard to steer
