Summer time: Need to retrofit ((a/c))
Damn summer time started already and the heat is on but i ain't got
no a/c in my car, so i plan to retrofit a can of r134a into my Celica 91'GTS -R12. if you are a pimp, you know how important a/c is to the ladies. No a/c no ladies. Anyway, from the begining i thought a can of r134a (with gauges) is all i need, but as i gone from forums to forums (they talk about different cars thou) they mention replacing so MANY things; i'm like wha? all i want to do is get my a/c working again with a broker's pocket. I'm sure there is ways to get around, or at lease people who knows celica. What do i need and what do i need to do, please holla!

1st of all , don't goto 134A. if you want something that works better, same cost as 134a, but uses less than half of the volume, let me know.... Also, since it uses less, it also means less head pressure, more ponnies saved for the wheels and better MPG....And all you have to do is have the system vacumed to insure no leaks and recharge with the new stuff. No seals to be changed, no fluid changed, nothing changed, except the temp inside the car will freeze their nipples hard enough to cut glass

THAT bites, you are going to have to stick with the 134a. sorry, only 2 states don't allow what i use. CA and TX. but if you don't get caught, who will ever know.... if you still want to try, send me an e-mail. otherwise you will need to change the seals, maybe the commpresor, orfice tube and oil. maybe even the dryer.

hey,
i've done all my toyotas like this: Get the retro-fitt kit,,, its 10 buks at most part stores, its a lil box of about 10 fittings... Get the gauges and lines and about 3 cans of 134a. Get the dryer for your car. This all should be no more than 70 dollars if you already have the gauges and lines, or you could borrow then from someone. Well, attach the new fittings, change your dryer, and charge it up. Have your AC on high and attach the can to the line. Do not overfill. If it stops going in, its full. This does the job. But remember to change the dryer for maximum effienciency. have fun. This has been done on the camry, previa, celica, and corrola. I was damned to find out that my favorite car, my personal car, the celica has a bad A/C switch. Now due to weird problems i cant figure out how to fix the switch. I did straight wire it for a sec to see if the compressor worked and COLD! But i still need to change the switch, becuase running it straight-wired will blow your compressor. Did some research for you. Go get the change over kit, have the system vacumed down to see if it holds, then charge it with 134. it aint the greatest, but with the new stuff, you don't have to change a thing but the fittings where you plug into the low and high side and the 2 seals with it. the rest you leave alone...
one you start to fill the system with the car running, leave the doors open and a/c on max high. that way you will get the proper charge, laters
