my first attempt at cartoon drawing

Here are my first 2 attempts at this type of drawing. The truck was my first and really didnt finish it.

c&c would be appreciated. A friend asked me to draw some of these on a wall at his house so I need some practice. I know I need to work on my wheels still. I dont know if this is the right place to ask but where can I find drawings like this on the internet? The only reference drawing I had to do these is the on in the logo on this site. Thanks.

Re: my first attempt at cartoon drawing

He wants you to draw on a wall? Better practice then

They look good, you should try and finish the second one though, is it a new F150?

Re: my first attempt at cartoon drawing

Well paint or airbrush on a wall, if he still has his airbrush.

The 2nd one is actually a f250, or at least what I planned on it to be.

Re: my first attempt at cartoon drawing

You need to practice!! Search the threads for Kartoonz' cartoons (?) go here for one that would look cool airbrushed : http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...light=kartoonz

Also, try not to make your drawings look square.

The Mustang is the better of the two. However, cars have curves. Your drawings show them having sharp edges. Try to loosen up and draw with your arm for quick sketches.

Re: my first attempt at cartoon drawing

thanks for the links and c&c.

hows this? Is it still too square-ish?

I noticed that the truck was very boxy but the 05 mustang was square-ish because the car is kinda that way to me.

You've got a good confident line I like that.

http://www.georgetrosley.com

fantastic!!

Remember.....stay loose. Don't worry so much about proportions and spacing and stuff like that. Think about attitude, stance, and exaggeration.

Have fun.

Re: my first attempt at cartoon drawing

George Trosley wrote me and helped me through art school. We still correspond on a regular basis. he was a major contributor to CARtoons magazine, and one of the reasons I draw cars at all.

He's a very cool dude.
