does anyone know if it's possible to convert a 92 240sx from a manual tranny to an automatic tranny? if so, how much would it run?

Trade your 240 MT for a similar shape 240 AT. Almost every one here will take that trade.

The swap you describe is possible, just uncommon, most people swap the other way. A mechanic will charge you around $1500 for the swap. (Remanufacture on a used auto tranny.)

The only reason I would ever swap a MT for an AT is if my left leg were amputated or something. =(

Keep the MT if you can.

i guess but the thing is i never learned to drive a MT esp because i live in a crowded area and it would be hell to switch back and forth

Learn to drive MT. I learned to drive stick in SF where I was rolling back into cars every other block b/c of the hills. I also lived and drove in Tokyo for 2 years where roads are way too overcrowded. Trust me, w/just a little practice stick shift will become second nature. It's so much more fun to drive even in traffic. But hey, alas to each their own. I think KenOhki is right when he says it'll be around $1500.

Learn MT, you will save 2000 bucks and have a MUCH better ride.

Go find an empty parking lot, and drive the car back and forth for like an hour, you will pick up MT VERY fast.

Is it possible to learn? yes. Believe it or not, at one point in time, nobody knew how to drive a MT. Why did you buy a manual if you didn't know how to drive it?
