What is that thing above rear view mirror?

I have my 89 Laredo about 2 years now. There's a little box above the rear-view mirror that has some kind of circuit board inside. Kind of looks like a garage door opener but I can't see any switch for it. Does anyone know what the heck this thing is? It is OEM but nothing in the book explains it.

Hi,
I have a 95 Cherokee Sport with a flush metal plate that has a small plastic dome hanging down. Same location above RVM. I would like to Id mine also. Keyless-entry was sugested for ours also but no remotes came with the used vehicle. Some Jeep Guru should pick up on this one. If it is keyless-entry what else should confirm this?

Yes, it is keyless entry.... if you don't have the remotes... Wal-Mart sells keyless entry kits for under 50....

If you have power locks and have this little box above it.... thats what it's for..

You can only be facing the sides or front to use it... Kinda like parifrial-vison... really gay..
