custom fiberglass/carbon fiber work?

i drive a 91 prelude, with the fold down back seat. i have installed a 12" sub in a ratty walmart box right behind the fold down seat(in fact, the back of the box, and the back of the seat touch) and it faces into the trunk. its ugly. and in the name of weight savings (yea, shouldnt have installed a sub in the first place if i was worried about weight blah blah blah) id like to remove the back seat. which leave a big hole into the trunk. and right in the middle, the ugly walmart sub box.

so my question is, if anyone can answer it, approximatly how much would it cost to build a custom enclosure to house both sub and amp that closes that hole. id like to have it done professionally, but i am handy with a tool kit and such if its worth the effort to DIY. any ideas on cost? (id go to a place in town, but po-dunk arkansas isnt really teeming with the custom car scene)

Re: custom fiberglass/carbon fiber work?

it wouldnt cost much but its a pretty skilled craft especially since u wouldnt be able to make something like that out of the trunk ud have to mold it to the sides in the trunk which is very difficult

Re: custom fiberglass/carbon fiber work?

it would cost you an arm and a leg to get it pro done.. and to have it done in cf would be rediculously expensive..

HOWEVER,.. you could do it very inexpensively if you do it yourself with fiberglass. but work with fg first before you attempt this large scale project.

that site d16y5 posted is also the first how-to that i came across when i was learning. very informative. here's my amp enclosure, no write up, but maybe it will give you some idea's as to mounting things in place and stuff:

Re: custom fiberglass/carbon fiber work?

just do it in fibreglass, u want a stealth box is quite affordable. If you're aiming for show it can get super expensive. Take a look at our website. We get customers dumping anywhere from 600-15000 on install. Of course in canadian.
