CD changer not working

I have a friend who has a 97 Lincoln Mark VIII, he is having a problem with his CD changer and asked me for assistance, maybe you guys have seen this before.
The car has a factory am/fm stereo with a cassette player, they both work fine. There is also a CD changer which is located in the trunk and is controlled by the stereo. He says he is able to select different CD's with no problem but when he tries to play one, he gets an error message "TRO". Has anyone seen this before? Is there a way to extract more info from the stereo that would give more detail?

Re: CD changer not working

I have this sometimes and I have to keep ejecting and putting in the cart and some times turning off car and re starting it makes it start working. Mine however is completely out when this happens it says something like no disk jockey.

I have the same problem; if you live in cooler climate weather, maybe you should try taking the disc magazine indoors overnite; this will keep the magazine warm. CDs tend to freeze and may also build up frost on them believe it or not, which keeps the laser from fully reading the disc.
