Finally!!!

I FINALLY got another Z! I'm stoked. (I can say that...I was born in Cali... ).

The one in my sig is the same car, obviously. I just realized that I didn't take any of the front...will do soon.

Also...what's up with the crooked gas pedal? Is it supposed to be like that? I can't put the pedal to the floor. It feels like it was put on there as a make shift sort of governor...feels like I can only give it half throttle. My 86 2+2 wasn't like that, but I opened the hood and peeked at the throttle body from inside the gar while I revved it and it looked like it was going as far as it should. On the other hand, the turbo rarely boosts past ~3psi...kinda like I'm only giving it half throttle. Could be a bad gauge...could be the pedal...could be normal...could be a bad turbo (which I highly doubt cuz I can hear the thing spinning up...plus, the car MOVES...either way, I PRAY it's not a bad turbo)...I don't know.

I think all the Z31 turbos came stock with those spoilers (feel free to correct mi if I'm mistaken). My 85 turbo has the same spoiler. See..

If you don't mind my asking, what did you pay for your new Z. How many miles, etc......

Re: Finally!!!

Only the 86 (and MAAAAAYBE the 85) had it except for some 87-89s...like the 88SS. The 84AE has one, too. The car in the pic Karen posted is actually an 84 or an 85...it's pretty easy to put the spoilers on so you see quite a few other years with them. I'm only 99% sure on this subject.

I paid less for it than anyone would ever guess if they saw it...I had everyone guessing at work today...no one got it...it's great. I got an AMAZING deal on it. I don't think the guy knew what he had...either that or I haven't realized what's wrong with it yet. It has 120,xxx miles, clean interior and decent exterior (few dents and a little rust, but nothing extreme). I only paid $800 for it!

Well, the car in the pic I posted is my car, and the spoiler IS stock, not an add-on, so I would assume the 84 and 85's both came stock with the spoilers also as the two aformentioned years were almost the same car.

Re: Finally!!!

I didn't think the 84-85 did. It must have been an option cuz most of those that I've seen didn't have it. All 86s I've seen have had it and some 87-89s have them.

*Remembers a certain green 95 TT that ran perfect until the engine exploded*

Just becareful because...

I pulled the piston that got loose out of my blown motor today.

Half of it was still intact...warped, cracked and deformed but together.

The rest of it looked like a thin layer of gravel in the bottom of my oil pan.

The connecting rod was twisted and ripped in half. Like playdough.

That and the rest of the pistons had many little "ice-jabbed-with-an-ice-pick" like pits in the top where the engine had been detonating like crazy.

Re: Finally!!!

Eh...ok...holy Christ...how in the hell could you have not noticed SOMETHING before that happened? That's insane. I just drove my car (called the DMV and they said that I CAN, in fact, drive it until the temp. permit runs out...YAAY) and the only odd thing that I noticed is that it takes a second to start the first time you start it every day. After that, it doesn't even take a full crank...it just jumps right back into business. Nothing too horrible. Runs strong, too...no odd sounds...no hesitation...no nothin.

Only thing that's kinda weird it that pedal. It still feels like I'm only giving it half throttle. No one's commented on whether that pedal's supposed to be shaped like that or not and that's one thing that I REAAAALLY wanted to know cuz if I am in fact only giving it half throttle, I WANNA SEE FULL THROTTLE!

Also, for those of you interrested, I chistled off the honda thing on the back today. :-D I still have to get some of the damned adhesive off...I can't believe dealers do that to their cars...that's so wrong. If I ever buy a new car and the dealer has one of those things on there, I'm going to make them take it off before I buy it.

Re: Finally!!!

Oh yea...broke as ****, you running a Greddy Profec? I'm pokin around for a boost controller to purchase in the near future and am looking for suggestions. I've heard that the Profecs are good. I want something simple like that, but one that also has an integrated boost gauge to keep me from having to get an aftermarket boost gauge, too.

Well i could have stripped the motor down competely in the parking lot (it blew on the drive home from the bank). And uh...well thats about it. How the hell you going to see that one of the connecting rod nuts was starting to come loose? By the time it was makin any time of noise that I noticed...BAM! and it was done.

As for the boost controller...I've heard much goodness about the Profec B. Right now the old engine is as the previous owner had it. JimWolf ECU with boost jets (little blocker things in the waste gate control hoses).

But I do plan to add a Profec B after I get the new motor in.
