Yeah I know I've brought this up a few times before, but I wanted to just ask again..

Well if you read my sig, you know that I have a Hyundai Tiburon. I got it for a few reasons. One, I like the Hyundai. I had a 1999 Tiburon previously and fell in love with the 2003. Second, you don't see alot of them out on the road, so there are enough of them that people know what they are, but not enough that everyone and thier grandmother has one.

Anyway. I'm just looking for some mods, short of getting a Turbo Kit from Gude ( at least right now ) that would help me increase the horsepower of my ride. I've just been shooting for somewhere around 200 to 230 horses. (I figured it was a reasonable gain. I already put a KanN filter on it, and that's about it. I do have some other ideas in the works like the Mussa Catback Exhaust, some Eibach lowering springs or some other springs around of the same quality. Also I'd like to increase the size of the brakes from the stock 10 inches disc brakes to something like 12- 13 inches diamond slotted rotors on the front and racing brake pads on the aft. (Since my car is FWD, I would think that what would be point of having slotted diamonds on the back. Of course if I don't have a option I will get all four rotors). An Injen CAI was another idea I had.

As of this moment, with those parts installed, I estimated about a twenty two horsepower gain to reach about 160 horses. At a cost of about $800, before the big brake kit, with the kits that I've seen, it's been about $1600- $2000 added on to that. (If I got a turbo, I would rather work on the brakes first. What would be the point of having 390 plus HP if I can't stop short of like 400ft lol?) That's about forty hp short of my goal.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

PS: I'm not some noob who doesn't know about cars. I just wanted some suggestions from my other car nerd people so I could have a vast array of ideas and parts to work on a wishlist for parts.

I would add to your list a, 4 200 shot of nitrous, new racing chip and, on board lap-top that you can control your performance with. With those plus the stuff that you have already mentioned, you should push 230 hp EASILY, and about 210 mph.

Re: Yeah I know I've brought this up a few times before, but I wanted to just ask again..

yeah, but I'd rather like to drive around with a legal daily driver. I mean what would be the point of nitrous if I couldn't have it hooked up. Plus it take up some needed space in side the car.

But the tweaking of the ECU isn't a bad idea

-Please keep the suggestions coming

...uhhh you really dont knwo anything about the tib.....

cole: gude isnt that great
theres new kits out youll easily be able to hit 600whp...
with the i-4 youll be able to get alot out of your car
stay away from nitrous...
there arent any super chargers around for the i-4... but a shit loa dof turbos...
so with that in mind... you have ot remeber what direction you want to go... if youre leabing to a turbo.. theres alot to learn... not jus about the specific kit youre going to go with... but about the actual turbo/ and how to keep the maintanance of a turbo.. and whateverything else is needed
i know youre no idiot.. but theres alot that goes into all this..
the intercooler... the piping.. or plumbing... the diameter of the piping...
all that crap...
ill gte you links to the site yo get these MUCH BETTER KITS than gude...

remeber that kid adam something...? whatever happened to him and his "turbo'd tib?"
id liek to see how that came out...

anyway if you got questions ill help you out

Re: Yeah I know I've brought this up a few times before, but I wanted to just ask again..

hey thanks. Yeah, I know i'd have to hit the books to learn how to upkeep a turbo setup. That's why right now I'm working on some small NA mods and keeping alot of my thoughts of suspension, exhaust and tire modifications.

I'll take a look at that site though, thanks.

Anyone else have suggestions too?

you are rediculous. i hope you were just joking.

anywho cole, you wont get past 200 hp at the wheels without spending butloads of money unless you boost. intake/exhaust/headers may have gotten your output at the wheels to the stock crank rating MAYBE.

i heard injen is kinda crappy. for less money than an injen, you can get a aem CAI and know it will be the best out there.

with brakes, yes you will need bigger rotors on the front, because of more rotational mass, but dont forget about the rears. a nice set of slotted rotors along with some axxis metalmaster brake pads and stainless steel brake lines should do fine for your rear. BBK(bigbrakekit) up front will do good.

do not think about 600whp if you actually want to be able to drive your car on streets. and i highly doubt anyone has a complete \'kit\' out to get to that power. if there was, it would be close to 10000 dollars.

oh no, I'm looking at about 200 at the crank (Sorry if I wasn't specific), once I have a sold job, THEN we'll go to the wheels.

I'll take a look at that AEM CAI. Thanks.

-Anyone other suggestions?

I'm still around nisco... and pushing about 385 whp.... still looking to tweak a little and am hoping that after the dyno tune in the middle of July I should be at about 400 whp.... BTW, the offer to race your Delta against my Beta for slips is still available... hell, I'll even drive 75% of the way to you as long as you promise not to cry when I load your car up on the lowbed heading to my house. The list of mods is so long that I can't even fathom putting them all right here but lets say this much.... frame, body and block are all Hyundai.... the rest of it is either extremely modified or completely replaced.

Cole, you should DEFINATELY look at:
cams,
port and polish intake/exhaust, (some will disagree about the exhaust because you're going to go turbo and replace the manifold but it's only a couple hundred bucks and can give you about 15% hp gain over stock)
big bore throttle,
oil & tranny coolers (a must for you and I going turbo with an auto!!!!!)
light weight pulleys,
low compression pistons (do this just before you go turbo, any sooner and you'll LOSE hp)
Forged crank and rods,
racing cats or just hollow out the stock cats,
bigger injectors (included with the Gude kit but not with most others)
Denso Iridium spark plugs,
Nitrous Express interchiller (a CO2 or N20 system for the intercooler on a turbo'd vehicle)
racing valve grind,
adjustable fuel pressure regulator,
adjustable cam sprocket

that should get you started... as always, if you have any questions about this list just drop me an email or a pm.

TIBURON99 - there is no way in HELL you can throw a 200 shot of nitrous in a stock 4 cyl motor with a racing chip and lap-top... we're talking 03 Hyundai Tiburon here... not '67 Camaro w/a big block in it.

Re: Yeah I know I've brought this up a few times before, but I wanted to just ask again..

go to his website if he's updated it....

Thanks Adam btw. I'll keep that list in mind.

BTW: What's the cost you've put into your ride?
Plus how much do you think (ballpark) all of those things would cost, not counting install since that would vary depending on where I went
