Angry Clutch adjustment keeps moving

Every time I adjust my clutch with the little knob under the battery, in a few days it will move to another position, and plus, I was wondering how hard is ya'lls clutch to push in? Is it stiff or loose? Sometimes I think I have to push to hard to get the clutch disengaged.

P.S. one time I was backing out of my driveway, went to put it back in to first to go, and the clutch pedal just stopped, I couldn't push it in at all, hard as a rock, I was like f*ck. Got out, tightened it up a bit and tried it again, still hard as a rock. So I just gave it a good push, and it broke free, and it felt like there was no cable attached, it was loose as hell, so I went and tightened the shit out of the adjustment until my thumb got a blister, got back in, and the pedal still felt loose, kinda like the gas pedal. It actually ended up working though, it was so awesome it felt like a hydro clutch. It worked awesome for one day, then started getting stiff as shit again, as it is today. I know no one has no freakin idea wtf is going on but thought I would just write it to see if someone did! Thanks btw...WTF?

Re: Clutch adjustment keeps moving

I believe that the adjustment knob is to adjust where the engagement area is, not the stiffness......mine has the same problem though, really stiff, I am going to try the clutch cable first, easier/cheaper.......then the clutch I guess

Re: Clutch adjustment keeps moving

yea, it does adjust the engagement, but I still do it anyway for a false sense of gratification.

if you replace the cable what exactly is that going to do?

is that what happends to a clutch when it gets worn out? it just starts getting hard to push? i haven't had one car more than a year so i'm not too sure =P

Re: Clutch adjustment keeps moving

I don't know, but if you think about the way a clutch works, it doesn't seem to make sense that it would get stiff its wearing out (atleast to my knowledge, I am probably wrong) it would make sense that it would slip, I am thinking that maybe if the cable is not lubricated or is starting to break it might be stiff....but agian I am just speculating....

Re: Clutch adjustment keeps moving

Just a hunch, but maybe it's the clutch release shaft that is rusted/seized.
I had this problem with my 90 Civic. Took out the transmission to replace the clutch. The release shaft was not moving... had to bang on it with a hammer to make it move... slightly. After a lot of work (hammering, prying, etc.), I managed to free it, cleaned all the rust, and now it works like new.

Hope this helps.
