air cleaner

call it redneck but i live in ky and prob. next week ill be having a yard sale to get rid of some of the junk i dont use anymore (people around here seem to luv junk) and i should get enough money to buy a new air cleaner for my car (91 rs 305 tbi) i would like to get some sort of open element air assembly that alows good flow but clears my throtle link and my distributor....at first i thought i had to stick w/ mine because i could find none for my tbi but i learned i should be able to use any of them as long as it has ample clearence....my question is do any of u know what a good one would be that would still clear my hood, distributor and throtle linkage???

thanx

most Mr.Gasket air cleaners will fit, tho there kinda cheezy. your throttle body has the same diameter as that of a quadrajet and most other 4bbl carbs so you shouldn't have a problem finding one. K&N makes an open element filter specifically for tbi i think.

oh ya, keep in mind that you will need to mount your IAT sensor in your new air cleaner

how about a cold air intake? open element air filters over stock will probly lose throttle response due to hot air in the engine bay, you need fresh cold air to really make a difference.
