bug and fastback?

hi, i'm lookin at buyin an old school bug and fixin it up for racing. (and also a daily driver too, so it wont be too crazy). But today i found a 1971 vw fastback type 3 for sale for $1000. He says it runs and the body is good, but are parts easy to find for these cars? I thought they were pretty rare, so I dunno if parts are gunna be a bitch finding. Will bug and ghia parts from the same year fit on it, such as suspension, brakes, engine parts, ect. Thanks to anyone who can help. If you wanna reach me directly, you can email me at [email protected] thanks

Re: bug and fastback?

Basic engine & transmission parts are the same, the difficulty comes with the sheet metal and accessories like fuel injection, alternator, axle length etc.... Body parts are of course, completely different and can be hard to find locally. Most chasis parts are different too, but are available.
