speedometer not working

the speedometer on my 1996 jeep cherokee sport stopped working. it begain about 5 weeks ago. the fuel gage started acting funny and so did the speedometer and the rpm gage. the fuel gage would go all the way over past the full mark (peg out). at the same time the low fuel light would come on too. when this happened the speedometer would quit working and the rpm gage. if you have any clue to what the problem might be , i would be appreciate it very much.

thank you

Sounds like a bad instrument panel, you may want to find one in a junk yard and see if replacing it will fix the problem if not then you may have to go to the dealer here is a link to show you how to remove it, good luck http://jeepwhitegauges.com/cher9196instructions.htm

Re: speedometer not working

it could be faulty wiring. there should be a wiring haraness that connects to the back of the instrument panel i would check ur fuses and then check the wiring harness itself. also check the gear for speedometer in the tranny. check to see if ur gas gauge is getting power at the sending unit
