Question Transfer Case

I have an 87 Wrangler with a 3inch lift. The problem I have is the TCase jumps out of gear if I hit a bump. My TCase is a NP207. Anyone have any ideas.

Re: Transfer Case

Did you install a transfer case mount lowering kit
( spacers ) ? When you lift it that much it changes the driveshaft angles and can also cause shifting problems. The solution is spacers and longer mounting bolts that restore the correct geometry.

I failed to note that the lift was a body lift. What do you think the problem is now?

In that case ( body lift ) I would suspect the shifter for the xfer case is hitting the metal surrounding it. Lift the carpet, engage the transfer case and see if it's to close to the floor pan sheet metal. The soulution is obvious, simply trim away the offending contact points.

You need to adjust the linkage and check for obstruction
