Itr, Or Dc Headers

I READ IN ONE OF THE THREADS THAT THE ITR HEADERS ARE BETTER THAN A SET OF DC SPORT HEADERS. IS THIS TRUE?
IF SO, WILL THEY FIT ON A LS?
IF NOT, WHICH IS BETTER, DC 4-2-1, OR DC 4-1?...........fISH

Re: Itr, Or Dc Headers

I'm not an expert on this stuff, but i don't think the Itr header will fit on LS non vtec.

From what i've heard 4-2-1 is for midrange power, 4-1 is for higher end power.

Feel free to correct or confirm my thoughts.

I don't really know if it matters between itr and dc. I have a DC 4-2-1 one-piece header on my gs-r and I am very happy with it. I didnt baseline it, but the difference was obvious, not to mention weight reduction.

I think integrasedan is right about the header formation. 4-1 will give more benefit at higer rmp. If you are just daily driving best bet is 4-2-1. if you drive track a lot where you can spend time at high revs the 4-1 might be better for you.
The one piece headers look better, but can be a hastle to get in if you are going DIY, alone in your driveway.

Also - you should note that 4-1 headers tend to have less clearance, and if you pinch/dent the bottom 2 pipes going over a speed bump, you'd be better off putting the stock ones back on.

Re: Itr, Or Dc Headers

ITR is a better header, it frees up more power than the DC, but DC's are ok. I have a one piece DC 4-2-1 and it is ok. I want a itr though so I can put the heat sheild back on! Also the ITR won't fit an ls. There is more of a port on the itr head than on ls (they come with a pretty shitty port) so the tubes are made for a bigger port than the ls has. I guess you could make it work, but it would be a wast of money!!

Re: Itr, Or Dc Headers

i second that i have heard that itr header is large if not the largest you can buy. and interasedan is right a itr will not fit an ls. and also the 4-2-1 does give better mid range power which is probably what you want to go with since you have a non-vtec

Re: Itr, Or Dc Headers

It depends on whether you mean a usdm or a jdm itr header. I believe the usdm has a 2" collector, while the jdm has a 2.5". Also, I saw a header dyno comparison somewhere and the DC 4-2-1 made more peak power than the 4-1. I'd definately go with the 4-2-1.
