Moan and groan while idling and turning off engine
I have a 91 with a 5.0 HO engine.
It makes a constant howl, or moan while idling. Then when the engine is turned off it makes a louder groan until it stops turning. I tried unhooking the air pump hose, no differnece, I replace the intake gaskets because of a bad oil leak. I was hoping that would also cure the moan, it didn't faze it. It is coming out of the throttle body/intake area. If I unhook the air cleaner cover and take out the air filter, it gets very loud. The air box is muffling the sound. Any ideas? The engine runs fine otherwise. Starts right up, runs smooth, lots of power etc. Danford1 |

Re: Moan and groan while idling and turning off engine
Replaced the intake gaskets or the valve cover gaskets?

I never use those end gaskets. I always just run beads of silicon on both the intake and block, let it set up 15-20 minutes and install. That doesn't leak ! |
