im looking to buy a car soon was thinkig 300zx or skyline or 180sx(240)
probs the z thow caus ethey look way cooler than the others.

i was going to get a TT but due to a lack of cash i was thinking about getting an NA, finnish paying it off and then buying a VG30DETT and dropping it in.

are there any differences between the NA cars and the TT appart from the engion???

Re: TT or NA

It's much cheaper to buy a TT than to buy an NA and do a swap. Just save up for a TT :P

Re: TT or NA

Im going to smack the next kid who says hes getting a Skyline... SERIOUSLY

Let me ask you how are you going to go about getting a Skyline bud? How are you going to import it? You have no clue right?

Im sorry if Im getting worked up over this... But it annoys the hell outta me when people say theyre getting a Skyline... When they have NO idea what is involved in getting one.

Anways...

Twin turbos have bigger wheels, a different rear interior area, different front bumper (air guided intercooler ducting) a small deck lid, either pedistal, or lid, boost gauges, etc. Obvious differences.

I wouldnt suggest getting a 300ZedX if you know nothing about cars... If you dont have the desire of working on, you had better have money.

Zed's can be (and more than likely, will be) expensive. So beware of what your diving into.

240sx-180sx conversion is much more practical... I am doing one at the moment. CA18DET engines are extremely easy to work on, cast iron block, turbo, very fun engine... Although a BIT underpowered (178hp) and 240's are much easier to find, and buy parts for... Example.

Projector Headlights for a 240sx - $250
Projector Headlights for a 300ZedX - $1,600!

Get my dorifto there?

Z's are affordable exotics... So keep that in mind when looking for your new car...

Good luck on your journey here man, hope you get a good car.

(You wont get a Skyline... Haha )

Re: TT or NA

if you don't have the cash for a 300zx tt, then you definitely can't get a skyline. it is better to just buy a tt off the bat.

CA is pretty cool, i know a guy that did a swap with his 240 and he put on the sylvia bumper, spoiler, and a couple other things. when i met him, he had fried piston rings, so when he tried to race me, smoke went everywhere.

Um... it's not so hard in Australia, Sam! He is from Austrailia... please kick youself in the arse! LoL

I have heard that Skylines wherever they are avaible are a dime for two-dozen! As in: they are everywhere! Get a TwinTurbo Z I say! And send me a Skyline!!!!!!! Oh, BTW.... are there 2+2 Twin Turbo Z's in Austrailia?

Sammy... I'm working on getting an R30 or R31 Skyline imported from Japan! No importation laws on cars after 25 years of manufacturing date! Bwahahahahahahahahhhhhhaaaaahahahaha!

Re: TT or NA

HAHAHAHAHAHA *kicking self in ass*

Im sorry im sorry. I have TOO many kids inquiring about wanting a Skyline... And they cant even afford a 1989 240sx. It blows my mind...

Anyways, since your in the Ausseyland... Go R32 GTS-T, and drop in an RB25DET (R33 GTS-25T) you can pick up an R32 GTS-T for under a grand (about $900 USD... Or about $1,300 AUS)

I know for a fact they are that cheap, because thats how much we used to buy them for. Then we would import them, have them legalized, and make a killing

Anyways, I appoligize for being an ass... But im sure you can understand why. *still kicking self in ass*

Anyways, if you want to do ZedX TT still... Import like a 1991 Slicktop Twin Turbo, 350lb's lighter, and same HP, thing will FLLLLYYYY.

(1990 was the problem year in America, 1989 was the problem year for JDM Zeds.)

Offtopic:

1viadrft... Good, you did your research, proud of ya. Haha.

Those Canadians only have the 15 year rule, which means they started importing Skylines last year... Bastards! Ha

This is what I am doing...

Importing an R32 GTR in 2008 for race/show only purposes. I am paying the extra customs fee, allowing me to keep the car an extra 2 years (a total of 5years then, then the car must either be parted out, destroyed, or exported) so by the time my cars time has run out... It is now legal in the states... Not a bad idea huh?

lol yeh its true i am i n Australia, where skyline are pretty common, 32's ,33's, and 34's i see em like every time i drive anywhere

dont no where u got the r32 that cheep from hey, the cheepest we can get em is from Jpn under the 15 yr rule for about 9 grnad or so depending on the condition.

i could get a good r32 GTR for less than $25 grand Aussie so like probs 20g US? nice cars.

th other option was the 180sx (sorry 240sx lol) was just gonna import from Jpn get one with the SR20, to save me doing the swap.

Hey do u guys c the mitsubishi 3000GT quite a bit, cause iv heard its pretty common over there?? how much do they go 4? cause i love them and iv only seen like 3 or something over here

And Yeah i love working on cars so thats no too much of an issue and also i think parts for the Z are probs cheeper here than in US.
but still they r expensive to maintain.

Another thing are they a mission to work on due to the crampd bay???
and also i no they have overheating probs, wold simply a bigger radiator or intercooler fix that??

thanks guys

yeh thats the main one we get TT 2+2 targa top
also NA 2+2,and we occasionally get a soft top (very rare never seen 1 for real) but all in NA, i think.

we just get what jpn gets really.

hey another thing iv heard that when z's get sideways like power oversteer and stuff they are hard to control, apparently they dont like going sidways at all???

cheers

Re: TT or NA

3000gt's are more common here than z32's are. at least where i live. but most of them are sl's, i see very few vr-4's.

i have gotten my z sideways a couple times and when i let off the gas, it goes straight again, i have found out that the z is very forgiving and very predictable.

Re: TT or NA

I would still go with the R32 GTS-T idea... THAT would be a fun ass car right thuuur.

If your going to do a 180sx... Why not do a Sil-Eight? That would be pretty sweet...

Re: TT or NA

180's are pretty damn good drifters... I cant wait until mines built.

We only have stock KA24DE's in our sx's... So im having to swap in a CA18DET. Your lucky, you buy yours like that,

You mean you wish your name was Takumi right?
AE86s are pretty shitty unless you've been delivering tofu for the last 6 years through mountain passes.

Stick with cars that have some ponies under the hood I say.
