show your Tats

I have several tats that I got when I was a Marine. Most of them were from friends of mine, so I decided to get 2 of the ones on my left arm covered up. I am getting them done by an actual Japanese Yakuza in the traditional style. Here is the unfinished project:

Mark is a Fanta-pants!!!!!!! Well, that's the first time I've seen your pic here, so errr..... That's what surpised me

It is a koi (japanese ornamental carp) not a catfish. There are many religous and symbolic meanings behind it, but you can look them up yourself.
(In Japanese symbolism the koi represents perserverance in adversity and strength of purpose. This has made it one of the most popular of their tattoos. The strongest koi swims upstream until it reaches the final waterfall, where it vaults into the mists and becomes a water dragon.)

As of now, that is just the base of the tat. After the original pic is in, the rest of the background and shading will be done. It isn't done with a gun like western tats, so it is very time consuming.

I will put up more pics as I progress with it. There should be about 6 more sessions, and then it will be finished.

BTW, Fanta pants = redhead? Never can remember.....

Thats a pretty cool tat though, i hate just seeing flaming skulls, etc..good to see it has a deep meaning to it..

Awesome tats mate! I've been planning one for a while and if I still want it at the end of the year, I'll get it.

BTW, is it just me or does your fish kinda look a bit like the punched out dorifto cat (or monkey. I can never remember which).

Well here is mine. This was done with my scanner 4 hours after I had it done, Dont have any recent pic's though..now we will see if I can figure out this picture posting bussiness

Well, I wouldnt call myself "hardcore" but I do like thier music. I have always loved the design, so heck..why not? you only live once, No, it doesnt have any "symbolic meaning" other than Metallica. If anyone can make my pic show up in the actual post, please do so..I wish I wasn't such a shmuck and new how to work this fangled inter-web
