89 tranny won't 2-3 shift

I put in a used transmission in my 89 GP with 2.8L engine. It road tested fine, then the other day I went to drive it and it shifted ok from 1-2 but will not shift 2-3. Fluid is good and at max level. TV cable is correctly adjusted and vaccuum lines are properly connected. Any ideas of what the problem most likely is and how do I fix it? What gets me is it operated great with no hint of problem and now this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: 89 tranny won't 2-3 shift

Well man do you get a DTC? sometimes if the shift solenoids are not working properly you will not get the sifhtting. So get your car scanned and check if there are any tranny related codes. Also is the speed sensor working properly?
My 93 lumina will run only in 1st if the speed sensor was dead
