who would trade

i've been looking at alot of skylines and stuff, and was just thinking to myself, if any of you with vr-4's (sorry base and SL's) could trade in ur vr-4's for a skyline r34 GT-r, would you do it. im just wondering what i would do, i love my vr-4, but for a skyline, i think i would trade it, even if it was slower, i just think that the skyline is an awwwwsome machine.

but vr-4's r still the best cars...

The only way I would trade for it is if I wasnt ever planning on modding or racing the car. It looks nice but the 1-2 shift would be kinda akward being RHD. And any performance parts would be damn expencive since they would all have to be imported. Ill take my VR4 thank you very much. I get enough "what is that" with this thing.

the Mitsubishi GTO MR beat the Skyline in every category in Japan, hands down, i'd take a VR-4 any day over a skyline. If i wanted a very fast sedan, i'd go for one of those v12 twin turbo mercedes.

well thats not a fair comparison really. you are comparing the Mitsubishi Racing GTO against a standard R34 GTR. a better comparison would be to compare the Vspec GTR or the N1 GTR against the MR GTO.

The R34 wins hands down in handling and in tweekability. and there is every chance that it is more reliable too. as for speed... im not too sure on that... But lets look at it logically. if the MR GTO was better then all of the Japanese workshops would probably be using them instead of Skylines.

that being said, ive heard that a MR can run a 12.5 as stock but i have no evidence to prove or disprove that theory.

I know I am one of the few out there - but I think the Skyline looks like shit. Its styling is bland and unimaginative. I've seen better lines on a Yugo .

Needless to say, I wouldn't trade a VR4 for such a putrid looking car. I don't care how much faster it might be. If speed were the only issue then I probably would have gotten a RT/10 instead of the VR4.

lol, and if money were not an option. And I wanted a insanely fast car with great looks, I would give McLaren a buzz.....F1....omg (needs to check pants)

Ummmm, but I want to keep my VR-4 between the skyline, it looks boxy and almost like they tried to rip off the corvette bubble lights in the back. And I dont understand why they are so much faster and modable than the VR-4, we almost have a liter more displacement! The only thing I can see is weight...But still, why cant fast VR-4's like Matt Monet's get heaviely modified skyline times.... Im a personal believe that more time and effort by like 100 fold has been put into Skyline, and no one has really ever taken a VR-4 all the way, but we are starting to get there. BUT HANDS DOWN! VR-4!!!!

Re: who would trade

I'm with Yogs, I don't really care for the skylines styling. I never really liked the whole hype over the car either, I'll stick with my vr4.

Re: who would trade

What I don't get is why don't they put the 3000gt in movies? Is it the fact that it was designed by a drug lord to be able to burn cops or is it just because they are not made anymore and those movies like Fast and the Furious are just there to sell cars???

Yep, 100%, I am with Yogs, the skyline is very unattractive and besides isn't the VR4 a bit more rare....*keeps hoping mitsubishi never brings back the 3000GT*

Re: who would trade

yeah they say in australia and of course japan the skyline is a dime a dozen, like seeing a mustang here in the states. the vr4 is a lot more rare in other places i beleive.

Well used Japanese cars are all a dime a dozen because of the nature of the Japanese car market and how finicky they are about cars (which is why they make such good ones ).

Re: who would trade

im with all you guys!! if i had a VR4 which hopefully in a couple of years after i get my SL i will get one, i dont think i would even think of trading it for a skyline. in my opinion skylines might be very fast but they're overrated. specially here in the states. they make it seem like the skyline is the fastest car in the world. its also very ugly looking and in looks could never be compared with a beatiful 3000gt.

hmm, interesting, i do love my vr-4, but i just think the skyline is a cool car, unlike yogs, i like the fact the the skyline is one of the fastest cars in the world, but still looks like a normal car...
