Overheating Problems...help

Greeting All,

I have a 93 Camry SE. It has a problem with the cooling system. I had it repaired back in October and they replaced the radiator, thermostat, and water pump. I had it repaired again last month. They replaced the cooling fan. Now it is overheats like once a week. I know the head gasket is fine and the mechanic said he can't figure out whats wrong with it. It seems as if coolant is leaving the system but when I let the car idle, the coolant isn't leaking out. The coolant in the resevior also seems to be boiling when I drive for more than 20 minutes. What else can be causing it to overheat.

I had the same problem about a year ago then one day it stopped having the overheating problem all on its own, the dealer could not explain it to me. Im glad I didn't have the headgasket done at the first dealership I took it to cause obviously it wasnt the head gasket.

kiddbcb - How do you know the headgasket is fine?

well when I pulled out the dip stick it doesn't have any evidence of coolant and also I opened up the knob on the engine and I didn't see any evidence of coolant being mixed inside of that either.

Coolant will also go out exhaust depending where gasket is bad. Trust me on this one. I just changed a head gasket because my coolant was disappearing. All is well now.

That means that any leak you have in the head gasket is not between the coolant jacket and the oil gallery.

If you are having bubbles in your coolant tank, it is likely that you have a head gasket leak between the cylinder and the coolant jacket. This is caused by one of your cylinders pumping air through the gasket leak into the coolant jacket. This is the only scenario I know of that pumps air into the coolant. I think you need a new head gasket.

damn...and that is an expensive repair.

If I had a warped head gasket or a cracked block, would that affect the way the car operates?

ask a dumb you get a dumb answer... i apologize i mean't to be more descriptive with my question. I mean't as how would the car operate other then the obvious over heating problems. What else would you notice withe car. i.e. the way it accelerates or things like that.

There are alot of possible answers to your question, depending on the size of the problem and the position of the problem. No one answer. Your description is one possible answer.
