My 2000 V6 LS has 70,000 miles on it and recently began pinging. I use only 92 octane gasoline, and the problem gets only gets worse as the engine gets warmer. I don't know if the fuel filter or pcv valve have ever been replaced, or if the injectors have ever been cleaned.
I live in the mountains and driving uphill only makes the pining worse as the load on the engine increases. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! |

Re: Engine ping
Pour a bottle of Redline S-1 cleaner in the tank (yes, the whole bottle). If that doesn't help, change your plugs. I had the same problem at about the same mileage...
