What's the best year for Impala?

I find this to be a difficult question to answer. I love the styling of the older cars and appreciate the comfort of the newer years, but ultimately my vote is for the '59.

What do you think?

I would vote the 62 Impala, the body lines give it a go fast muscle car look to the full size family. 63 somewhat continued that, but it was lost somewhat. It was all lost in 64 in my opinion even though I own one, but all of the pre-68 Impalas have a place in my heart.

Re: What's the best year for Impala?

Very Tough question! I do not think I can answer it! here are my Favs though (obviously these picks are all hardtops)...

58, for the Agressive, but luxurious look (when done correctly)!
59, For the Rear end
61, FOR EVERYTHING!
65, for the new lines
67, for the Huge rear fenders
96, FOR EVERYTHING!

Been gone for a while, but I'm back. Good to see some interest in this thread. I agree with you about the rear of the '62. A friend of mine had a black '62 convertible, it was one the sexiest Impala's I've ever seen! I love the beltline on the '62, GM was right on the money that year.

Re: What's the best year for Impala?

I currently own a '64 Bel Air,similar to the Impala, and while I like the early '60s cars, my main goal is to also own a '67 or '68 Impala fastback. I love the styling of those years. Wasn't the 1970 Impala the best selling American car for that year?
