thinking about a cavalier?

Ok guys i have connections at dealer car auctions in dallas and i will be purchasing a car from there in the next two weeks.

I was originally hoping to get a 2g eclipse rs/gs but no 2g eclipses have shown up for grabs so now i am looking at alternative cars to get and i've seen some sweet looking cavaliers. But they look nasty when stock that was the whole reason for me wanting the 2g eclipse because it looks great stock.

Anyway i'm looking for your opinions on the cavalier and what years look best except for 2002-2003 they are too new and too expensive. Also ive been told that they are sloww as hell what kind of performance options are there other than the usual exhaust etc. are these cars reliable ? what kind of gas mileage and so on.

Re: thinking about a cavalier?

get a '94 Z24.. There aren't many body kits out for them, but they are the easiest to do engine swaps, or so i hear.. And it is also the last of the second gen cavaliers.. My friend has a 99 cav and he said he would much rather have my 94..

Oh and for gas milage, i get 22city/26highway with the stock 3.1L V6..

Also the '94 cavalier stock in nice condition is only gonna cost you about 2,000.... which gives you plenty of money to work on them with.. The problem is finding them...

Re: thinking about a cavalier?

I would get a 95+ Cavi. Go for on with the 2.3L quad 4 or the 2.4 twin cam. stay away from the 2.2 2200 engine.

So basicly get a z24 they only had the 2.3 and 2.4
(2.3L in 95 only and 2.4l in 96-00 maybe 01)

Re: thinking about a cavalier?

Um don't get a 2.3 Quad 4 Unless you know your shit because there is basically nothing out there for it unlike the 2.4 and 2.2 which is everywhere!
