Unhappy I hope someone can answer this question

My wife has a 1999 Mercury Cougar (6cylinder). I am wondering if a universal catalytic converter can be welded in place rather than having to purchase the much more expensive, manufacturer's converter.

yes. Just try and find one where the inlet/outlet pipes are the same size for simplicity.

Yes, go to a place like Cole Muffler or Midas Muffler. I had this done to my 89 Cougar by Cole. It works the same.

I think I saw somone say 8 years 100,000 miles or somthing on Emission related repairs. Check with the dealer to see if your car would qualify you could maybe get it for free man.
