Abs Brake Light On

I had a problem with my ABS coming on at low speeds so I had the left sensor cleaned and it fixed the problem. Now the ABS light stays on. I just came from the dealer and after hooking up a scanner for all of 5 minutes and charging me 85.00 they told me I had a code of CO268. That is the code (they tell me) for a shorted ABS pump. They said if it didn't take out the EBCM it would be $600.00 and if it took out the computer it would be $1700.00+ . Well, all I want to do is to deactivate the ABS system and put out the light. I unplugged the 60amp fuse but the light stayed on. Is there a fuse somewhere that turns the light off?

I also pulled the 60 amp fuse to disable the abs, and my parking brake light came as well as the abs light. Did this also happen to you?

I pulled the 60 amp fuse but the amber light stayed on. I don't remember if the brake light stayed on or not. I have since found out that there is no way to turn off the the ABS light except by fixing the problem.

ABS light

Check reservoir for sensor plugged into it on lower part of tank. Its held in place by a plastic clip. Remove it and leave the sensor plugged to the cable. Start the truck and see if the light goes off. If it does then the float inside the reservoir is either stuck or bad (probably stuck). Your options are to either replace the reservoir, remove the res tank and change the brake fluid, or try banging on the tank to loosen the senor (be careful if you do this so as not to damage the tank). If you try the latter two re-install the senor and see if the light went out. I've a 2000 Silverado LS and my ABS would come on intermittently. At first I would bang on it to loosen the float and that would work for a while but one good rut in the road would make it come on again. Finally removed the res tank and changed the fluid and that did the trick. It hasn't come on since. Hope this helps. Got the info from a really good GM Tech and the guy really knows what he's talking about.
