Numberplate light wiring

This may seem like a random question but bear with me.

Im converting my car from JDM numberplate lights which are beside the plate to the rest of the world way of having them in the bootlid.

Ive already bought the lights so no worries there, I just need to know how they got the wires from the boot(trunk) to the lights. Im guessing they ran them down one of the strengthening pieces that run underneath but none of them seem obvious.

A pic would be great but just an explanation would be enough.

On a side note is anyone in america interested in converting to JDM, I have all the parts to do it which I wont need anymore (one part has one clip broken but it can probably be fixed pretty easily and you dont need it and cant see it anyway)

Cheers

Re: Numberplate light wiring

Do you have a transtop? The plate light wires ran through wire loom that was attached to and ran down the length of the underside of the trunk lid. Those wires weren't present on a transtop because you'd have wires hanging off the trunk when it opened. That's why they had the plate fillers on transtops - the wire ran along the inside of the trunk and allowed the trunk to lift all the way up.

I'll get you a pic of what mine looks like - I have a USDM Del Sol.
And how much are you asking for the JDM parts and what parts do you have available?

Here's how the license plate light wiring runs in the USDM and non-transtop models.
Hope this gives you a better idea how to wire it.

Cheers for that.

I used to have a transtop but it stuffed up so its been converted to a manual roof.

I have The numberplate lights, the cover that goes over them recently repainted in Milano Red. Ill throw in the blanking plates for the bootlid as well.

What you would have to do is screw the lights on, drill a hole in each side to put the bulb though and run wires to them.

Heres a pic of what they look like for anyone who dont know.

I dont know what theyre worth, Ill just leave this thread here for a few days and whoever offers the highest amount if its worth my while going through the hassle of sending them Ill do it.

Dont know what it would cost to send. If I packaged it up it would probably be in a box about the size of a shoebox and weigh about a kilo.

Can take a pic of them indvidually if anyone wants it

Re: Numberplate light wiring

Give me some time to search through my Helms manual and I'll see if I can find some better information on how to wire the lights you're installing. I'll try to get to it today or tomorrow.

Re: Numberplate light wiring

it doesnt really matter...just re-run your existing harness thru the bottom rear firewall section under the trunk matting along the inner quarter wall and behind your rear tail panel...that should work fine..altho i have yet to "fiddle" with a tranztop ....also on another note in most states License lamps and reverse lights ONLY have to work if there is a harness and socket for them..so in all reaness you could just do away with the haness by hiding it somewhere..i would hook it up myself since you went thru allt his trouble..but just lettin ya know ..ill see if i can find a diagram of the tranztop harness from Honda

Re: Numberplate light wiring

Well, dug around in my Helms manual and that's pretty much it. I couldn't find any detailed info on how that stuff's wired. So looks like you should take Tranzlogic's advice on the wiring. Sorry I wasn't much help here.
