99 grand engine fans not running
99 grand caravan, cooling fans are not working.
Fuse is good, temp gage is working, but even with AC on the fans are not working. Thermostat is good, radiator is working but I can't stand still too long! The check engine light is on, a 1249 code. It is a manufactures code for an emissions problem, is this related? |

I had the same problem with my 96 intrepid. I found that the wiring that leads to the elec. fans had a connector that was bad. It is basically under the radiator, and had to be taken apart and cleaned up. For a while before that, I carried a 3 wood with me to smack the wiring harness when the van was overheating while pulled off to the shoulder. That sucked. I'd say find that connection, clean up the terminals, and you'll be good to go!

Is it your radiator fan relay?
Hey Mike, I just had the same problem! In my case, it turned out to be the radiator fan relay. I replaced it ($68) and everything is working fine now.
Here is the thread where I posted about the problem then later with my solution. If anything is not clear, please let me know and I'll try to help. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=243388 I did have a CEL, but I didn't have a way to read the code, but the CEL went away when I replaced that relay. |
