86 civic runs hot....
hi guys.... back again
My civic runs hot.. not all the way to the red zone, but pretty close. I have had the radiator flushed and rotted out. and it still runs hot. sometimes the fan I believe comes on too late. and sometiems it kicks on just when the gage is smack dab in between the hot and cold mark. most of the time, it will run hot and then the gage will slowly move down again.. but not always to the middle . what do you think? I need a water pump? sensor is going? Sugguestions wanted!!!!! please! [email protected] Last edited by bosko26; 06-13-2004 at 11:09 PM. |

It sounds to me like it would be the water pump. I had the same problem with my 80 Civic.

A new T-stat is always cheap insurance - item to rule out.

alot of 86 civics that i have worked on generaly run a little warm one way to remedy this if you want get under the car lower right handcorner of the radiator you will see the wires that go to the fan you can bridge the wires and the fan will run but all the time only when the car is on that is now the problem with this is that the fan is more likely to burn out alot sooner you might also want to check all the tem sensers i think there is three total but dont quote me on that.....
