2000 GT Rev Limiter?

Is there a rev limiter on on the 4.6L engines? When I am slamming the gears I shift around 5900 RPM. Around that level the engine chokes as if it hit a rev limiter or not enough fuel, this has happened twice. Anyone know what this may be and would a chip of some kind override?

Yes your 4.6 has a rev-limiter and it is there for a reason.

I believe it is set at 6250. I only know of one guy that would shift the stock engine at 6200. He blew it out.
