1996 s-10 blazer

Hi, I have an s-10 blazer 1996 and I was wondering if any one else has trouble with the fuse blowing when you hook up a trailer? it usually uses 20 amp in the brakes and it blows while pulling a trailor when i push the brakes. I put a 25 in it blew it also so I put in a 30 and it didnt blow it today when we pulled the trailor. Also if you pull a trailor at night it makes all the lights dim when you push the brakes and the air conditioner also. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

sounds like a problem in the trailer wiring, check for corroded connections or wires on the trailer.

Re: Re: 1996 s-10 blazer

Hey, ummm, actually I have had this same problem on a 96 S-10 Blazer as well. I pull a trailor and it blows my brake fuse. Also my trailor lights no longer work correctly. I wired them from the factory harness, and now by depressing the brake, power is sent to the parking lights. Turn signals as well light the parking lights, not the brake lights. Anyone have suggestions?

If the problem only occurs with the trailer lights hooked up, the problem is with the trailer or the trailer connector.

Agreed, trailer wiring is incorrect.

no, the trailor wiring has nothing to do with, on the trailor that is. The trailor works fine with all my other vehicles. I tested the wires coming out of the trailor connector on the car because what happens is when i step on the brake, the parking light wire gets power. so i checked the connector at the car to see if this is the case, and it is. And there is nothing wroing with the way the connector is hooked up to the factory wiring. Well I decided I could just run new wires from my tailights to fix the problem. Well, it turns out that when i step on the brake, i also get power to the parking lights at the rear lights, so personally i think the fuse blowing could just be because since it's already wrong, adding the extra lights poses a bigger problem. But i dunno, why would my parking lights get power when i step on the brake? That's really my question.
