safe power

Hey all you old geezers, i'm 15 and gotta question.

- i'm thinkin of trading in my father's civic in couple years n see if i can find an nice gsx.

-stock gsx comes with 210hp rite? wut's the torque on those puppies?

-this is my question: Lets say that I would like to get into the 300hp/300tq out of the gsx, what will i need to beef up in order to make the engine last 3-4 years?(sleeves?pistons?rods?) would i need a new turbo/clutch?

would this last me?-keepin in mind the car would be pretty old in 3 years.

-would tuning the fuel/airflow ratio would be nessesary? anything else?

-how much would all this cost? minus labour(my uncle's a mechanic)

-one more thing, would a 100, 000km engine be okay? or is it past it's life already? how much would i cost to replace the front end and part of the fender.... my cuzin's friend sellin his gsx for 7k...

advice/help would be greatly appreciated. thx

ps- i'm thinkin on getting gsx cuz i'm fucken tired of readin up on how much it'll take to make a lil civic fast..

Re: safe power

Depends what generation of car, since they have different turbos. 1g is bigger. This is the order of modification: http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/

I don't know stock torque because nobody worries about torque. Mods make power, that's all I really care to know.

Yes, you will need to tune the car. Basic tuning isn't hard, but it's an S-AFC and a datalogger purchase.

Wait for a good GSX with lower miles. Some people make more than 300hp on 100k+ miles, but I wouldn't do it unless there was going to be an engine rebuild anyway. Keep learning. Good luck.

Re: safe power

you'll need all the suporting mods, intake, exaust, and push your stock T25 turbo with a boost controller. with all that being done, 300hps shouldn't be a problem. you're prob looking at $2000 to get it done, or of course it can be cheaper, depends on where you get your parts and the condition of the parts. and if you do all your work yourself.

Re: safe power

Yes, for now just read up and learn as much as you can. A 3 year headstart would be a very valuable once you get the car

Re: safe power

joemathews- rofl...

i was thinkin 300 is sufficient for time to time blasts wid another car. i dun want ridiculous power levels (400+) for a car that i'll prolly drive day-day, plus the car would be roughly 10 years... pretty old for a car...
neways thx

Re: safe power

don't you think 300 crank is achievable with highly tuned stock turbo?. after all, it's crank, wheel'll prob be around 260. if it's 300 Whp i would definintely agree.

Re: safe power

it all comes down to the amount of air the turbo can push. i think the t-25 is around 280 lbs/min [somebody jump in with the correct #] maxed out, which translates to ~280hp [crank]. then it is just out of breath. it physicaly can't push the air req'd to make that much power.

Re: safe power

I believe its around 25 lbs/min. The best I could get out of it on race gas was 250 whp, but that was without fuel control. Might have had a smidge more power. Thats close to 300 crank. But you cant run it like that long, the little turbos dont last long maxed out, they rev to over 150k rpm. Larger turbos spin much slower, and therefore last much longer maxed out.
