1996 Jetta "Engine Check Light"
My daughter got this car 3 days ago, The engine check light remains on and the car is sputtering (missing). Anyone know what this could be. ???? PLEASE HELP

The best thing to do is have it scanned for codes. One common thing that causes missing (2.0 engine) is the coil will crack and arc to ground. Spray some water on it and see if it starts popping and cracking & gets worse.

Take it to Autozone, and they will read it for codes for free and help you diagnose the problem.

two good responses...
coil pack is the culprit most of the time in such a case. Not a cheap replacement... But yer best bet to a quick fix would be to run to Autozone or AAP and have them run the OBD2 scan tool. |
