Re: 1986 GM stereo mods
Not that I don't plan to, but the SONY stereo with the Black-face, and the Xplod speakers are a good fit in my '87 Merc GM.

"not that I don't plan to".
The Sony Xplod system has speakers that exactly match the stock speaker sizes, in the premium sound setup (6 spk) in MGM's. Didn't do it yet. 3 years ago it cost $1100, now it's $800. Do you have money for me?

Re: 1986 GM stereo mods
When you go to install the head unit and speakers, u will have to bypass the PREMIUM SOUND, i had to with mine, or else if u put the volume too high, it will cut out, and if it plays for too long, the sound will fade away. PREMIUM SOUND is a stock amp, located either behind the glove compartment, or behind the rear seat, in the trunk.
